Nohemy’s Story

My name is Kenia Nohemy Samora and I am twenty-three years old.   When I was four years old my father separated from my mother. My three-year-old sister and I went to live with my father.  We grew up under the covering of our father until I was eighteen years old. We left home because at that time the place where we lived became very dangerous, and something very horrible happened to us, which today I cannot write about in this letter.  After we left home we went through very difficult situations. We had to confront our own life and it was not easy, but God was always looking out for us. He put the right people across our path to help us.

We studied only through primary school because my father did not have sufficient resources in order to help us study.  When I graduated from sixth grade, I dreamed of continuing to study. I always thought that one day; God would give me an opportunity to study.  In fact, one day I wrote a letter to God, which one of my requests was that one day He would give me the opportunity to study. My dream since I was a little girl is to study in a music school and to become a professional singer.

I met Jesus at the age of fifteen, and I gave Him my life.  I started to serve Him from that moment until today. From the moment that I gave my heart to Jesus, my dream was one of being a missionary and helping children and young people who have been through my situation.

A year before coming to live with Sister Cynthia, my sister and I were finally living a better life as we had suffered a lot before; although no more than other people in our country.   But at that time we already had work and we rented a house, and we lived as we had always wanted. With our effort and dedication, we lived a meaningful life.

Then God put Sister Cynthia across our path, and just like an angel He used her to open the door that had been closed for a long time, so that without any doubt we could continue with our studies.  I think it was the best decision I made in order that I could continue with my studies and achieve my dreams and goals.

I thank God for giving me this opportunity, for I know that with His help I will be able to be a better person.  I know that God is in each of my plans.

I am very grateful to the people who are helping financially with this project, which God has placed in the hands of sister Cynthia.

It is my prayer that God will continue to bless you.
